Life is a Gift

I love getting up in the morning and looking out of the window and seeing the sky. More often than not it is grey. But I love seeing the clouds move by slowly non the less. I love it even more when the sky is blue with white fluffy clouds moving slowly past. At the moment, it is dark when I wake up, but then I get to see the sun slowly rise behind the buildings in the distance.

I love watching the birds fly by seemingly without a care. If I take the time, I see that when one bird gets up to fly, it's friends follow behind. I was standing in the train station last week on the way to work with all the usual people standing in silence. But I could hear the birds calling out to one another with their little chirpety chirps. Nature's song.

I love the slow changes in the trees throughout the year. The leaves turn red and orange, then fall off one by one until they are bare. Then when the sun's heat gets warmer, they start to grow petals, then in time, grow leaves once again.

I like to watch people walking past me on the streets with their own missions in mind, each and every one. You can see joy, sadness, anger or boredom in their eyes. Young children walk with a skip, business men walk with a seemingly close deadline ahead and old ladies slowly walk with care, yet with history and an elegance.

I love discussing random yet interesting things with my closest friends, my family. I love knowing that if I'm bored, if I'm lonely, if I'm in the mood for fun, if I'm distressed or if I'm sad, they will always be there. I can say I'm also here for them too.

We can experience all of these things because we are alive. Smelling, touching, tasting, seeing, hearing. They are all a gift. Gift's we sometimes take for granted.

If something in existence breathes, it is alive. We take a breath in, and then breathe out. The thing that strikes me is... what caused us to first start breathing? Why did we do it? How did we know? The mind boggles.

We are but a careful construction made from Oxygen, Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sulphur, Sodium, Chlorine, Magnesium, Iron, Fluorine, Zinc, Silicon, Rubidium, Strontium, Bromine, Lead, Copper, Aluminium, Cadmium, Cerium, Barium, Tin, Iodine, Titanium, Boron, Selenium, Nickel, Chromium, Manganese, Arsenic, Lithium, Mercury, Caesium, Molybdenum, Germanium, Cobalt, Antimony, Silver, Niobium, Zirconium, Lanthanum, Tellurium, Gallium, Yttrium, Bismuth, Thallium, Indium, Gold, Scandium, Tantalum, Vanadium, Thorium, Uranium, Samarium, Tungsten, Beryllium and Radium.

Elements from the earth. We are but dust. But we breathe.

Life is a gift. We should cherish it, every last bit, while we can. The good times and the bad times. The happy times and the sad times. Each moment creates memories. These are the stories of our lives. Our lives which are all gifts from God.
