Returning to Japan
Hello! Hope this message finds you well and you've had an enjoyable summer! Just thought we’d briefly update you before we fly to Japan this Saturday (23 August).
We’ve had a wonderful and encouraging time here in England spending time with lots of amazing people. We’ll miss you all very much! We’d like to especially thank everyone at the Toxteth Team of churches in Liverpool, Argyle Community Church in Reading and the Cam Vale churches in Yeovil for making us feel loved and at home with you. We really feel supported and sent out from you to do God’s work in Japan!
We particularly wanted to share some answers to prayer with you.
Thank you for your prayers for my Japanese Spouse Visa! We were able to apply for it at the embassy with no problems, and we had it the next week! God is good. This means I can live in Japan for a year before I need to extend. This visa will give me more flexibility in what I can do in Japan, compared with the Missionary Visa I had last time.
Also, we have been blessed with many opportunities to share about the needs of the Japanese people. Thank you all who invited us to share and who came along to hear us. While sharing about Japan, we have also been sharing about our financial needs because we have needed to increase the amount we need to raise. Last month we even sent out a special update with more details. Since then, we have had lots of one-off donations as well as increased monthly support! Thank you!
Our monthly target is £1,200. Last month we had £702.67. This has increased to £936.60! Praise God! Please continue to pray for us as we trust that God will provide the rest.
Another prayer request we had was for a place to stay while we searched for an apartment in North-Western Tokyo. God has answered and we can move into a YWAM shared house while we look for our own place. It really is a huge help to us and will mean we can get stuck into ministry as soon as possible! Please do continue to pray that God will guide us to an affordable place to rent.
Thank you again for your support, and for the wonderful time we had here in England. We are now ready for the work God has for us reaching out to the Japanese.
We will update you again once we’ve settled a bit and know more about what we’ll be doing.

お久しぶりです！日本は今年も厳しい暑さになったみたいですね。
皆さまの体調が守られ、お元気に過ごされていることを願います。
私たちはいよいよ日本に戻る日（今月２４日）が近づき、ワクワクしているところです＾＾
以前お伝えした通り、ギャリーの運転免許切替の関係で思いがけず帰国が延期になりました。まさかリバプールのToxteth地域で半年間も過ごすことになるなんて・・・！（写真左は私たちが暮らしたBeresford通り）辛くて寂しい時期もありましたが、振り返ってみると、たくさんの大切なことを学んだ貴重な時間でした。地域の人々とのつながりや信頼の大切さ、 "Actions speak louder than words” (直訳して「行動は言葉よりも多くを語る」)などといった当たり前のようなことを、日常生活の様々なことを通して、身にしみる形で教わりました。
こちらにいる間、教会が運営するカフェでのお手伝い（写真右）、食料援助プログラムや子どもクラブのボランティアなど、地域に根ざした様々な活動に参加させてもらいました。リバプール独特の方言やユーモアが分からず戸惑ってばかりの私を、地元の人たちはあたたかく受け入れてくれました。この半年間は今後決して忘れられません！
（ちなみに、YWAMでは原則として、「その仕事が神様の御心なら生活の必要は備えられる」という信仰に基づき、スタッフへの給与の支払いは一切ありません。現在、私たちの生活費のほとんどは私たちを応援してくださる教会や友人のサポートによってまかなっています。もし日本での福音の広がりを応援したいという方がいらしたら、ぜひ私たちのことを祈りに覚え、サポートをご検討いただけたらと思います。夫婦としてこれからも、父なる神様を信頼して生活していきたいです！）
私たちが結婚して日本を出て以来、お祈り・応援して下さって本当にありがとうございました。こんなにすぐに日本に戻ることになるとは思っていませんでしたが、私たちの思いを超えた神様のご計画に期待して、これからも頑張ります！
生活が落ち着き次第、お会いできるのを心から楽しみにしています＾＾
