Tohoku Vision Trip Report
We are back!
Thanks to your support and prayers, we were able to go on our first vision trip to the least reached area of Japan.
For those of you that have been praying for us, we want to say a huge thank you! Your prayers carried us through each day of the week, and now we are safely back in Tokyo after an amazing time in Tohoku.
Here's an overview of how the trip went. In each location, we prayed over the city from a high viewpoint and met with pastors who are already working there. This helped us have an idea of how God is working in Tohoku, and how YWAM can help serve there long-term!
Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture
Our first stop was the most populous city in the region. We spent 3 nights there staying at a church and we were able to meet a young pastor who founded a ministry which is still serving in the disaster-hit areas, while also partnering with various churches. During our visit, a group of local pastors was having a meeting in the next room and we got to say hello! It was really encouraging to see such a tangible example of church unity. We also prayed at the central train station, which many people use to travel across this entire region.
On our last day, we also got to explore Matsushima, an area famous for its scenic beauty consisting of many small islands (below left). It is a very spiritual place with a long history of worshipping nature, so we made sure to pray and worship there. We also got to try some gyutan (cow's tongue) which is a Sendai specialty (below)!

Yamagata City, Yamagata Prefecture
Our second location was quite special- it is where Naoko's family is from! Here, we were able to spend the weekend at her grandmother's church, where they have a strong focus on discipleship. The pastor was very friendly and spent a lot of time with us, not just sharing about his vision and ministry, but also letting us experience onsen (hotspring) and local delicacies! On Sunday, our team helped serve at the church kids' program by playing games and leading worship. We were also given the opportunity to introduce YWAM during the service, and the response was very positive! It is amazing to see how God has opened up a door for YWAM through Naoko's grandmother, and what He might have started through this relationship.

Our final location was an area that suffered a lot from the nuclear meltdown caused by the disaster in 2011. Many people were killed due to destruction and radiation, and hundreds remain in temporary housing to this day. We stayed at a church-run mission centre where short-term YWAM teams have already stayed in the past, and were able to spend a lot of time with the pastor. He is usually extremely busy, so this was an unexpected blessing! We realised that, despite the pain caused by the tsunami and radiation, God is also using this as an opportunity for Christians to share His love. Please continue to pray for restoration in this area, and for people to find true hope in Christ.

And that was it! It was a wonderful trip, full of unforgettable memories and encounters with amazing people. We also feel confirmation that God really wants YWAM to have a long-term presence there, and He has a plan which He wants us to follow.
From September until next February, we will be focused on staffing the bilingual DTS, but we also believe everything has a place in God's plan. Please be praying for God to speak to us clearly about where exactly He may want us to start, as well as the next steps and timing of things. We are also very thankful He has blessed us with a team of people, who also have a heart for Tohoku.

皆さまの祈りに支えられ、YWAM初の東北ビジョントリップを終えることができました。
おかげさまで、チーム全員の健康と安全が守られて、無事に東京に戻ることができました！主の導きと恵みあふれる素晴らしい一週間で、忘れられない滞在となりました。皆さまへの感謝を込めてご報告させていただきます。
今回は宮城・山形・福島に１週間かけて行ってきました。それぞれの場所で高い所から市内を見渡し、祈る時間を持つとともに、現地の牧師先生方のお話から、様々なことを学ばせていただく貴重な一週間でした。

宮城県＊仙台市
最初に滞在したのは、東北地方で人口が最も多い仙台市。無償でクリスチャンのボランティアに宿泊先を提供しているという教会に泊まらせていただき、三日間滞在することができました。ホープみやぎを立ち上げた牧師先生ともお会いすることができ、現地で教会同士が手を取り合って神様の愛を広める働きをしている様子をうかがい、教会が一つとなることの大切さを改めて思わされました。また、多くの人が行き交うJR仙台駅構内や、市内を一望できる青葉城跡、さらには多くの神社やお寺が点在する松島で祈る時間を持ちました。キリストの愛が仙台でますます広がりますように！

ここでは牧師先生が私たちを本当に温かく迎えて下さり、私以外のチームメンバーは、おかげさまでかけがえのない日本の文化体験となりました。東北の文化を堪能する、最高に楽しい時間でした！

日曜日は教会の子どもプログラムでゲームと賛美と証の奉仕をさせていただき（写真上）、礼拝ではYWAMを紹介する時間もいただき、まだ東北に活動拠点をもっていないYWAMについて知っていただく良い機会となったことを感謝しています。また、東北KGKの方とお会いできたのも主の計らいだったかもしれません。礼拝後は教会の皆さまととても楽しい交わりの時が与えられ、応援の言葉をかけていただいて何よりの励ましでした。愛餐会のカレーも美味しかったです！
主が祖母を通して与えて下さった素晴らしい出会いを感謝するとともに、これからどのようなことが開けていくのかワクワクドキドキです。私たちがこの大切な教会の家族とつながっていく機会がこれからも豊かに備えられますように祈っていきたいと思います。

福島県＊いわき市
最後に、震災と原発事故により大きな被害を受けた福島県いわき市に滞在しました。以前からYWAMの短期ボランティアチームがお世話になっているグローバルミッションセンターに宿泊し、とても短い時間でしたが多くのことを学ばせていただいたように思います。いつも多忙なスケジュールで過ごされている代表の牧師先生とゆっくりお話することができたのは、本当に特別な恵みでした。お話を通して色々なことを考えさせられとても書ききれないのですが、被災地でいかにしてキリストの愛を表すのか、現実の厳しさと同時に、イエスさまにしかなし得ない心の癒しがあることを改めて思わされました。福島の人々が、キリストにある癒しと希望に出会うことができるように祈るばかりです。
