Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!    Special Update 2015 Dear our friends and family both here in Japan and across the world, Merry Christmas! We hope this finds you well! We have had a busy season with DTS, but now we can finally sit down and update you with some of what we have been up to. DTS Lecture Phase For the past 11 weeks, we have had teachers come and teach the students about God, about who we are as His children, and how to reach out to those that don't yet know Him. It has been a wonderfully busy time, and we are kind of sad to see it end! Just yesterday, the students flew out to the Philippines and Thailand for the first half of outreach phase. During lecture phase, I (Gary) have been in charge of transportation, which has involved purchasing hundreds of train tickets for various mid-week events, and Naoko has been in charge of guest speaker hospitality and making sure they are cared for during their stay, and also doing lots of interpreting, especially for a couple of the lecture weeks. As well as this, we have both had two "one-on-ones" where we have met up with students every week to see how they are doing and to help them to process what they are learning. It's been great getting to know the students! Tohoku Outreach As mentioned, the students are now overseas for the first half of their outreach (2-months to put into practice what they have learned). For the second half, they will be in Japan. The two locations will be Kansai in the south, and Tohoku in the north. Naoko and I, and two other staff, will be leading the Tohoku outreach. We are excited that we get to take students up there because we want to see something longer term established in that region. We will be there from mid-January to mid-February, which means it will be freezing and not much is actually happening ministry wise! So please be praying that we can find opportunity to serve and for accommodation. Our budget is very small too which is a challenge. But God has a plan! New Building  For years, YWAM Tokyo has been praying for a larger building in order to run schools and host events. God seems to have guided us to such a building! It has been quite a journey, but we will be able to rent a large building from a Christian denomination from early January! God has also provided the money to move in! He is so faithful. The denomination actually want to sell the property, but they are willing to rent for the short term because they like us, and because of the grace of God. Though we would really like to purchase from them. To do so would mean raising a lot of money! We have some special news for this update that we have been really looking forward to sharing with you!   We are having a baby!!   We still cannot believe we are actually becoming parents! Please pray that God will prepare us for what is about to happen! The baby is due at the end of June. Naoko is now 12 weeks pregnant and is finally getting over morning sickness (we hope- I've been doing a lot more cooking!). Lecture phase hasn't been easy as she has been very tired and nauseous and nobody knew why. But God gave her the strength she needed, especially for the interpretation she did! 愛する皆さま メリークリスマス！ すっかり寒い冬になりましたが、それぞれの場所でお元気にお過ごしのことと願います＾＾ いよいよ来週はクリスマスですね。イエスさま降誕の喜びと日頃の皆さまへの感謝を胸に、9月以降のご報告をさせていただきます！ バイリンガルDTS  お祈りに支えられ、9月22日から開校したYWAM東京初のバイリンガルDTSは、無事に前半の講義期間を終えることができました！合計15人の生徒たちは昨日、後半の海外アウトリーチのため２チームに分かれ、フィリピンとタイに出発したところです。11週間にわたる講義は週ごとにテーマがあり、「父なる神の愛」や「キリストにある自由」などをはじめとする神様をより深く知るための学びのほか、宣教における教会の役割や異文化間コミュニケーションなど、外向きのトピックも盛り沢山でした。私自身も今回は2週にわたって講義の通訳をつとめ、とても良い経験をさせていただきました。午前中の講義の後は、スモールグループやスタッフと生徒が1対1で分かち合う”One-on-one”、さらに夕方は大学生・高校生伝道の集会や路上賛美に参加したり、充実したスケジュールをみんなよくこなしていました。生徒一人ひとりがより深くキリストに根ざした者とされ、とても有意義な講義期間となったことを心から嬉しく思います。（写真：講義前の賛美の時間）

アウトリーチ！ 共同生活をしながらの濃密な日々の後、今度は学んだことを実践する機会として後半の「アウトリーチ」に入りました。来月中旬までの海外アウトリーチの後は、日本に帰国して関西と東北地方に出かけます。私とギャリーは東北チームのリーダーなので、現在祈りながら、1か月にわたるアウトリーチの日程や内容を準備しているところです。東北チームは私たちを含め、スタッフ4人生徒6人の合計10人です。今年夏に一緒に東北に行ったスタッフの仲間2人が加わってくれたのも大きな励ましです。近い将来YWAMが東北地方で活動拠点を設けることも夢見ながら、その一部として主がこのアウトリーチを用いて下さりますように。生徒たちが心身ともに守られ、思いっきり日本を体験して成長するアウトリーチとなりますように、ぜひお祈り下さい！東北アウトリーチは来年1月18日~2月12日です。

YWAM東京、引っ越します その他の動きとしては、年始にYWAM東京が引っ越しをすることになりました。以前から祈り求めていた建物と土地があり、購入を目指してきたのですが、とりあえず賃貸という形でそこに移ることになった次第です。場所は同じ西武池袋線沿いの東久留米ですが、今までは戸建てやアパートを何件か借りて生徒やスタッフの宿泊に使用していたのを、今後DTSはすべて一箇所で宿泊も集会も持てるようなとても理想的な場所です！リーダーたちが必死に祈り決断に至ったことなので、どうか一切の経済的必要が満たされて、神様の栄光のためにその場所を用いることができるよう、覚えてお祈り下さい。 いつも私たちを祈りに覚え、献金をもって応援してくださり、心から感謝申し上げます。 今までは英国のサポーターがほとんどだった中、日本でも応援してくださる方が何名も与えられて、私たちは本当に励まされています。生活が守られているこの恵みは、皆さまの祈りと献身の気持ちのおかげです。 何よりも大切なものを与えてくださった神様を覚えるこのクリスマス、皆さまお一人おひとりの上にも、色々な形でイエスさまの恵みが注がれますようにお祈りしています！クリスマスの各イベントなども、大いに祝福されますように。 寒いので、お風邪などひかれませんように〜 あたたかなクリスマスをお過ごし下さい！ 感謝して 菜穂子＆ギャリー

＊個人的なご報告＊ 待望の赤ちゃんを授かりました！ 主が与えてくださったこの新しい命がすくすくと育ちますように。 また、働きを続けながら私とギャリーもしっかりとそのための準備ができるように、お祈り下さい。 予定日は来年の6月末です＾＾ハレルヤ！ また、ギャリーの誕生日にあたり、新しいPCのために皆さまから本当に多くの贈り物をいただき、 感激しています。これについては後日改めてレポートするので乞うご期待！ なお、匿名で多額の献金をして下さった方がいらっしゃいます。 この場を借りて心からお礼を言いたいです。どうか主の豊かな報いがありますように！
